The Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is soon to arrive in the UK, with Apple revealing a release date and pricing system last week. The watch will be available to buy in the UK on 24th April with prices starting at £299 for the basic model and increasing to £13,500 for the top of the range Gold model.
We wanted to find out what people knew about the Apple Watch and if they would consider buying one for themselves.
Wouldn’t buy the Apple Watch
One of the main reasons for not wanting the Apple Watch was down to people just not seeing the use for it. Many already had iphones and didn’t see the use of having another product that does the same thing as their phone.
“I wouldn’t be interested in the Apple Watch if i’m honest. I think the phone does more than enough so I’m not really sure why I’d need it on my wrist.” (Rebecca, 27, Nottingham)
“Why do I need a watch when my phone does everything that the watch is going to do.” (Jennifer, 33, Manchester)
“It doesn’t appeal to me very much as we have all we need on our phones and tablets.” (Jennifer, 31, London)
“No I won’t be buying an Apple Watch. From what I understand it’s just a smaller screen linked to your main phone. I don’t really see the great benefit. It doesn’t replace the phone, which would be cool.” (Hayley, 32, Lymm)
Others felt that the watch was too expensive to justify purchasing and was very overhyped for what the watch could actually do.
“I think it’s the most overhyped, overpriced piece of kit ever. Yes I have an Apple phone and ipad and I use them a lot but why i’d want to spend that much on a watch I have no idea.” (Paul, 40, Hayes)
“I think it’s hugely overpriced and a bit gimmicky. Why would you want to send your heart beat to someone?” (Esther, 19, London)
“I’m sure that it looks cool and that some people will have to have it because it’s an Apple gadget but for me I’m perfectly happy having a phone.” (Elizabeth, 32, Sherborne)
Would buy the Apple Watch
Others were very keen and couldn’t wait to get their hands on the new Apple product. Apple fans expressed excitement at this latest product launch and trusted in Apple that the watch would be as good as their other products.
“I will definitely be getting the Apple Watch probably as a pre-order as soon as it comes out. We do collect most Apple gadgets anyway and I’ve been keeping an eye on it since it was announced.” (Hollie, 27, Maldon)
“Without a shadow of a doubt I will be getting one. I will sell a few things if necessary to get it. It’s just something that I really really want.” (Timothy, 34, Bristol)
“I’m a huge Apple fan and I’m very excited for the Apple Watch. I will be buying it on its launch date, not the mega expensive gold one…I think it will compliment the rest of my Apple products and it will just be very cool.” (David, 33, Hove)
“I bought my iphone 6 specifically because of the Apple Watch. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it last year. Yes I’m definitely going to be buying the Apple Watch. Yes it’s expensive but it’s amazing.” (Lynn, 49, Great Wyrley)
“I would love to buy an Apple Watch. Yes please. I was monitoring the launch yesterday and looking at all the different designs you can have.” (Ashley, 39, London)
